School Atlases for the Weak-sighted

The aim of this degree thesis is to create a brief summary of cartographic production for visually impaired people, to evaluate selected works and to create an Asthenopia School Atlas draft. Sample sheets showing an asthenopic map of Australia are included in the appendix of the degree thesis. The MicroStation application program was used for the atlas draft creation as well as for the creation of the Australia map sample sheets.
Sport climbing of visually impaired and limitations related to their handicap

This bachelor thesis concentrates on climbing activities of visual challenged, studies their abilities, perception of this activity and eventual limitation caused by this handicap. The goal of the thesis is to compare and evaluate abilities of visually impaired and non-handicapped climbers, recognize the impact of visual handicap on perception climbing activities and research, how much their abilities are influenced by this handicap. In my work on this topic I was helped by real handicapped climber as well as non-handicapped assistants, whose visual perception was temporarily restricted. In the theoretical part my thesis deals with general explanation of climbing activities and their development. It also concentrates on importance of visual perception, characteristic of sight damage and its influence on personality, movement and sport activities of people. The practical part is based mostly on experience of the visually handicapped climber during these climbing activities. Next I am focusing on abilities of non-sight handicapped climbers with temporarily limited visual perception. I am measuring the influence of temporary loss of sight on climbing performance and technique. The effect of kinesthetic sensation on the postural control and balance abilities of individuals with visaul impairments

Thesis title: The effect of kinesthetic sensation on the postural control and balance abilities of individuals with visual impairments Objectives: Compose through the literature study appropriete balance programe for the individuals with visual impairments and measure its effect on their postural control and balance abilities. Methods: Ten visually impaired subjects, one subject with visual and vestibular impairment and one healthy subject took part in this study. Movement intervention was held once a week for eleven weeks, consisting of balance and coordination training, exercises for decreasing muscle imbalances and increasing body awareness and relaxation ability. The Footscan system was used for measuring the effect of movement intervention on the on the postural control and balance abilities of individuals with visual impairments. The testing was done before the beginning and after the finishing of all classes of movement intervention and the results of the pretest and posttest were compared with each other. Results: The movement intervention led to the improvement of postural control and balance abilities at five subjects from the total of nine subjects, who underwent pre and post testing. Title of bachelor thesis: The Role of Occupational Therapy in Work with Blind People Abstract of bachelor thesis: This bachelor's thesis is concerned with methods of occupational therapy and their work with blind people. The first aim of this thesis is to find the role of occupational therapy in work with adult blind people in the field of self-sufficiency. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The first one describes anatomy and physiology of vision, division of visual impairments and their most frequent causes, occupational therapist's intervention in the field of self-sufficiency, cognitive function, assessment of the environment and in the field of employment. The practical part contains five case studies of blind clients which describes case history, occupational therapist assessment, assessment of self- sufficiency and then plan of therapy. The partial aim is to make promotional material which could be used for promotion occupational therapist's work with blind people. Social Work with Visually Impaired Clients

The thesis is focussed on social work with visually impaired clients. The theoretical part deals with eyesight, anatomy, physiology of the eye and various visual defects; further, on personality of handicapped individuals, quality of their lives, provided social assistance, methods of typhlo- rehabilitation and appropriate utensils. The application section searches by means of qualitative research, namely semi-structured interview and observation, complex functioning of an asylum for the handicapped - Home for Visually Impaired Clients PALATA, Prague. The dissertation presents, according to the findings, personalities of the interviewed, their subjective difficulties, the way they cope with the obstacles, their level of contentment, and considers bounds of assistance possibilities from the social background. The objective of the thesis is to describe options of social work with visually impaired clients. To present their personalities and difficulties they deal with due to their handicap. Title: Climbing of visually impaired people and limits produced by their disability. Goals: To point out critical moments during climbing of visually impaired climbers and evaluate degree of influence of missing sight to the entire climbing activity. Methods: Technical literature researching, questionnaire investigation, data analysis and graphical presentation of results. Results: People with visual impairment are able to perform climbing activities with the same equipment and in the similar range as sighted climbers. Absence of visual perception primarily places higher physical demands on climber and virtually prevents him from bouldering.
